The Promise and Spark of a New Year

An old year passes and a new one begins.

We write this on the last day of 2017, a day pregnant with promise of a new year beginning tomorrow. Though January 1 is just another day, it holds significance. As we flip the paper calendar (remember those?) to a new page, we feel a sense of possibility rising up in us.  We want the new year to be different, somehow.

We want this new year to be full of vibrancy.  We want to be all that our Creator has made us to be.  We want to fill our spot in this great circle of life, contributing and making the lives of those around us better.

Because you’ve found yourself poking around on Upward Motion, we’re guessing you carry a similar spark within you.  You want to make your life, and the lives of those around you, better.  You’re tired of low living and want to grab all the gusto you can out of this next trip around the sun.  Fulfillment is important to you.

So what do you want this next year to look like?  What do you want to do?  How will you make your life, or your world, better?  Write it down, tell someone.

It doesn’t necessarily mean making a huge splash (though it certainly can), but it can start with you getting healthy and whole and then having a ripple effect to those around you.  It can be you volunteering for a cause you’ve always cared about.  It could be you writing a handwritten note to someone who could use some encouragement.  Perhaps you want to create art and put more beauty into the world.  Maybe you’re going to explore more of our wonderful world to realize the goodness that’s out there.  You’re looking to connect with others around you.  You may want to help educate others on a topic that’s near and dear to your heart.

For us, the spark that’s burning is to share stories and discussion of people who are elevating their lives and the lives of those around them.

How will you elevate your life, or the lives of those around you?

We can’t wait to see what the new year holds.

Share your dreams and desires with someone else.  Let’s spread the love and elevate the lives of those around us.  Set your spark ablaze.

Happy, healthy, adventurous, creative new year to you and yours.

  1. Well spoken! I love the idea of having a “ripple” effect on those God has placed around us! My prayer and hope for 2018 is that the imprint I leave will have an eternal impact on hearts around me and that as I make choices to become whole and holy, so will others follow and find true peace and contentment in this glorious wonderful gift of life.
