Blogtober: It’s a Thing!

It’s late: after 11:00 p.m. One last scroll through the online social outlets I enjoy: Instagram and Facebook, mostly. Wouldn’t you know it, I ran across something that caught my eye: Blogtober! The challenge is to write a blog a day for the entire month.

Anyone who has known or followed me prolly knows that I like monthly challenges. Exercise! Kale! Hydration! Journaling! Reading! Practicing Spanish! So when I saw this one, I got a little excited about it.

So here is my first one of the month. I’m starting out enthusiastic. We’ll see how this goes. It will be interesting (to me, anyway) to see what topics I choose to write about. I have no master plan, no themes, no grand design.

Like the old NBC-TV sit-com “Seinfeld,” it might turn out to be a show about nothing. I’m okay with that.

My thought with Blogtober is to just write. Don’t worry too much about editing – just write. Don’t worry about trying to be too clever – just write. It’s more about practice than perfection for me. I suspect that as the month goes on, I’ll come up with more ideas. Just… write.

But for now it’s late and I just wanted to get the first [fledgling] one in the books. Boring, perhaps. But in my thinking, it’s better to begin imperfectly than not at all.

Challenge accepted!

I work with women in midlife, helping them drop the pounds and gain the energy, lose the stress and find themselves.

My husband asked me recently if breast cancer is something that women think about much. I can say that I certainly do. If we haven’t personally had breast cancer, we all know someone who has or whose life has been touched by it. This can cause us to live in fear.

Midlife Skin

The appearance of fine (or not-so-fine) lines on the face. Crepey skin on the legs. Hands that look like somebody’s grandma.

Have you experienced this? I’m seeing it more in myself and today was a wake-up call as I caught my reflection in the mirror.

Weight Matters

Love your body at any size. Yes and amen.

It saddens me to hear of people who’ve equated their size with their value as a person. Your weight is only a measure of your body against gravity. It doesn’t tell about your kindness, generosity, empathy, helpfulness, creativity, intelligence, love, et cetera.
