Recipe for Pampering Your Skin

I’ve just gotten back from a few days of camping and playing outdoors. Shower? Nah, not necessary… until I got home. It’s weird, but I couldn’t smell myself until we (hubby) and I got back to civilization.

I think I had the same socks on for the whole time. I definitely wore the same shirt everyday. Call me a dirtbag – it was just easier.

But now, however, I’m ready for some pampering!

You know I love coconut oil (here’s a blog on a few health benefits, and here’s a delicious snack recipe using coconut oil), so tonight I did a little experimenting in the kitchen and came up with a winner of a concoction for post-shower skin pampering.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 4 drops vanilla essential oil
  • Using a mixer, combine all ingredients together until creamy. Store in airtight container.

OMGracious. So easy and so nourishing for your skin. It’s good medicine for after a shower. Give yourself about 20 minutes before heading to bed, however, as it takes a bit for your skin to absorb the oils.

Don’t worry, this is good stuff for your skin to absorb.

The coconut helps:

  • reduce inflammation
  • heal wounds
  • protect skin from harmful bacteria
  • provide deep moisturization

The olive oil:

  • may help prevent premature signs of aging
  • has antibacterial properties
  • is loaded with vitamins that help protect skin from damaging free radicals

The peppermint and vanilla oils smell amazing together, and can help reduce acne. We thought we made it out of acne troubles when we left our teens… but here comes more hormone craziness of perimenopause.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this quick and easy recipe for pampered skin with you.

You deserve a little pampering!

Set Point and Weight Loss

Have you heard of this? The set point theory of weight loss says that there’s one weight that your body is comfortable with, and even if you lose or gain, your body will always try to return to this set point.

Weight Matters

Love your body at any size. Yes and amen.

It saddens me to hear of people who’ve equated their size with their value as a person. Your weight is only a measure of your body against gravity. It doesn’t tell about your kindness, generosity, empathy, helpfulness, creativity, intelligence, love, et cetera.

Midlife Skin

The appearance of fine (or not-so-fine) lines on the face. Crepey skin on the legs. Hands that look like somebody’s grandma.

Have you experienced this? I’m seeing it more in myself and today was a wake-up call as I caught my reflection in the mirror.
