5 Quick Tips for Gaining Energy

If you’re like many folks, your energy levels may have dropped a bit in the past few months.

There are many reasons for a drop in energy: hormones (yeah… been there), sleep (of course), diet, stress, lack of exercise, too much alcohol, wonky blood sugar levels, stress, difficult relationships, clutter, weather, illness…

That’s not a complete list, of course, but you get the idea. There are many possible reasons you’re experiencing a drain or drop in your energy levels.

Want a quick fix to get you on your way to putting that pep back in your step? Here are a few tried-and-true strategies:

  • establish a regular bedtime. Your mother called and she wanted to make sure you remembered this. Yes, having a regular bedtime preceded by an evening routine can signal your body that it’s time to wind down. This will help you settle more quickly into a good night’s sleep… which obviously helps restore energy.
  • exercise daily. Move your bod! This might seem counter-intuitive if you’re having a hard time even getting off the couch. But as the old Nike slogan said, “Just Do It.” Go on a walk or bike ride. Do an exercise video from YouTube. Dance around the kitchen. Perform deep stretching to start and end your day. Movement gets the blood flowing, which in turn brings oxygen throughout your body. This will give instant energy.
